The dishwasher is the saving. There is no doubt about it. Using a dishwasher, apart from saving time, also gives us the opportunity to save water. However, how much water we manage to save also depends on us and how we use the dishwasher. So how, when washing dishes get the best results with the least water consumption?
Before you place the dishes in the dishwasher
One of the myths, surrounding dishwashers, it that you should rinse the dishes thoroughly before placing them into the dishwasher. We absolutely shouldn’t be doing this. When the dishes in the dishwasher are clean, the detergent has nothing to “work on”, so it can damage the dishes and in the worst case – dishwasher itself. So, we should not waste water for rinsing dishes before placing them into the dishwasher. Just remove bigger sizes of food leftovers.
Proper arrangement of the dishes
Appropriate distribution of the dishes ensures the best possible washing results. It will also allow to fit as big load as possible to wash even more economically. In the lower basket we should always place the biggest and the most soiled dishes, such as pots, pans, big plates and bowls. On the upper basket we should place mugs, glasses, coffee cups and small plates. We always place the glasses upside down. If our dishwasher is equipped with folded elements, do not be afraid to use them. They will allow us to fit even more dishes. We should also remember that the dishes should not block the spray arm and to not to stack them one of another.
Appropriate selection of programs
In dependence of how much the dishes are soiled, you should choose properly the washing program. Not all dishes require intensive washing-up cycle, to which big amounts of water are consumed. Sometimes is enough several-minute program to wash, for example soiled mugs or glasses.
